Trout Fishing in Spring
Spring is my favorite period for trout fishing. It's that time of year when meter-long walls of grass don't rise around streams. When you can walk along the stream in a relaxed way, admiring the nature without thinking that around the next bend you will have to squeeze through bushes covered with vines. You don't need to chase away mosquitoes, flies and all the other goodness that we can encounter in the summer. Trout spring fishing is my favorite fishing method during this period. So I focus all my attention on the trout.
The most difficult period of spring is after the frogs warm up after winter. Frogs start migrating from their wintering places in the river to the meadows. Then for trout a mad feast ensues, their stomachs full of frogs. When they begin to travel to the shore, there are so many of them in the water that it is very easy for the trout to fill their bellies. It is during the migration of frogs from the river to the meadow trout recovered very suddenly. And catching them becomes much more difficult than usual. If you look through the eyes of a trout, everything falls into place. Why chase some vaguely swimming fish (wobbler) when the river is full of frogs. You swam out, shook off a few frogs, and went back to your hideout to rest. But everything is not as bad as it seems at first glance. Beautiful specimens can also be caught during this period. As we all know, trout is a territorial fish and territorial fish do not tolerate guests in their home. As a result, full of energy, they fiercely defend their hole where they live. This is where the fisherman's creativity begins.
Summer
During this period, a lot depends on weather conditions. if we take 2017 and 2018 as an example, they are as different as night and day. The year 2017 was rainy, cold, the river water was high and muddy. Not only the fisherman adapts to all these natural conditions, but also the fish itself. This should be taken into account when traveling to fish. Although Lithuania is not a big country, the weather conditions in the regions also differ.
It is not difficult to catch trout in summer. By choosing the right stretch of river, with the right presentation bait the trout will jump out of its hiding place and grab it. The most suitable places for trout during this period are the more rapid areas of the river. Where the current washed out the hole. In front of or behind a fallen tree. Under trees, branches, washed-up shores, stones and other hiding places where you can hide from the direct current and at the same time watch what it is carrying. In addition, trout are quite angry during this period and you don't need to go far. If a trout tried to attack your bait once, there is a high probability that it will do it several more times (obviously if it hasn't been hooked).
