December 18 Daiwa has announced the update of its legendary Certate 2024 reel series. This series is legitimately the favorite reel of many spinning players around the world and is considered by many to be the gold standard in Daiwa's premium segment. Previous generation Certate was released in 2019, and five years later, the new Daiwa 24 Certate claims to be a leader in the world of fishing, with a number of new and improved technological solutions.
New Daiwa 24 Certate Design
Daiwa 24 Certate has kept almost all the visual solutions of its predecessor to the maximum, only slightly changing the gradients of gray and silver shades.
If you visually compare the two generations, at first glance it is quite difficult to find differences, although they certainly exist.
Among the obvious differences, the new Daiwa 24 Certate has lost the gold border on the side of the reel, and the slots have become slightly darker. The design influence of the high-end 22 Exist series of reels is clearly felt here. I personally like this solution.
Technologies
When it comes to technology, the Certate series has always delighted anglers with its value for money. Yes, the reels are far from cheap, but for this money you get almost a complete set of high-end state-of-the-art solutions from Daiwa. The new 24 Certate is no exception in this regard, retaining all the best features of the 2019 series and taking over a host of new technologies from the top-of-the-range Exist reel for 2022.
Air Drive Design
This is a new generation reel concept that allows anglers to control their bait even better. The Air Drive design incorporates up to four technologies: AIRDRIVE ROTOR, AIRDRIVE BAIL, AIRDRIVE SPOOL and AIRDRIVE SHAFT. These technologies aim to reduce weight, improve balance, increase reel stiffness and smoothness.
AirDrive Rotor
Newly shaped rotor, more monolithic, lighter, but also stiffer. The AIRDRIVE rotor also has better balance and rotation.
AirDrive Bail
The hollow line-laying tip has become even lighter and smaller in diameter, while maintaining the required stiffness and strength. The new angle of inclination of the bow ensures a smoother descent of the fishing rod to the laying roller, maintaining greater reliability and practicality of this device.
AirDrive Spool
Thin-wall coil construction that eliminates unnecessary "meat" to reduce weight. At the same time, not only the outer, but also the inner parts of the reel were thinned, which made it possible to significantly reduce the weight. The lightweight spool makes for easy unwinding and easy casting. In addition, the performance of the friction brake at lower loads has improved, it has become louder, more sensitive and more responsive during adjustment.
Waterproof Handle Seal
To improve protection against water and dirt, the new 24 Certate has an additional waterproof ring that attaches the handle to the reel body.
