Until trout fishing In the early days of fishing, I didn't even think that I needed glasses for fishing, and I just didn't like sunglasses. And about the benefits of polarized glasses in fishing I learned from some article, but I looked at this information rather coldly and skeptically. However, seeing all the fishermen using goggles in each one, I decided it was time to get one too. After using recommendations I went to pick out my first polarized (what a clever word) glasses. Since then, the set of rules for their selection has not changed at all:

  • we choose glasses specifically for fishing;
  • we choose glasses from a well-known manufacturer and, if possible, check their authenticity;
  • choose the right color of lenses (filters) and check their operation;
  • try on the selected glasses.

Why fishing? Simply because the market is full of such products and polarized fishing glasses can be used for various purposes. You can buy all kinds of nice glasses with a Polarized sticker at any market for cheap. Many of them even have polarization, and that seems to be what you need, and it's cheap. However, any item is only as good as you pay for it. There is no magic in technology. Therefore, decent fishing equipment stores do not sell such glasses, but offer special glasses for fishing, which are made of durable materials, with thoughtful protection against various natural factors, and all this from reliable manufacturers. Of course, the price for them will be a little higher, and in the case of expensive brands - significantly higher, but the quality and durability of their filters are also not comparable to "market" products.

What color of glasses to choose

As for the color selection of polarizing filters for fishing glasses, brown and gray shades can be called the most popular in freshwater fishing, they are certainly the most versatile, the rest of the colors are designed for more variety and according to our mood, but in general they are not inferior to gray and brown in terms of their polarization properties, creating maybe somewhat different color image. However, when fishing in cloudy weather or early in the morning or in the evening, in general, with a lack of lighting, you will need another set of glasses - with yellowish tints, in bright sunlight you will have to replace them with darker ones. So, ideally, a fisherman needs at least two pairs of glasses.

How to check polarized glasses in a store today probably doesn't need a long explanation. Usually, stores have special stands with text and various images that become clearly visible through the filters of suitable glasses.

How to understand that glasses for fishing will be comfortable

It is also important to try on the glasses. Sometimes buying glasses without trying them on can be a big disappointment. After all, glasses hang on your nose for hours while fishing, and the mood will depend on how comfortably they hang there. After all, inconvenient fishing glasses, apart from irritation, won't do anything in fishing, and we go there for a good mood, so you shouldn't spoil your mood with a thoughtless purchase. Before buying, it is better to try on glasses in a store or to like them from friends, and only then buy or order online. Just by trying it on, you can understand not only how comfortably various fishing glasses will fit on you, but also how much they will fog up while fishing. You have to look carefully to see if there is a gap between the frame and the face from the bottom and top. Due to the frames close to the cheeks and eyebrows, these fishing glasses can fog up when fishing, especially when moving, and then it is better to look for glasses with better ventilation. There is nothing complicated in choosing polarized glasses, perhaps, except for the authenticity of the manufacturer, but here it is better to rely on the respectable reputation of a reliable store.
