Choose a good reel for spinning is the main task of every fisherman. Reels for spinning key fishing element. Suitable fishing tools will make fishing a real pleasure.

There are many coil specifications to consider in order to choose the ideal option for you. This means that the reel for spinning must be chosen carefully and match your fishing method.

What are the reels for spinning?

Fishermen use different types of reels. Main types of coils:

  • Inertial - the drum also rotates during the throwing process.
  • Non-inertial - the drum does not rotate, the line unwinds freely.
  • Multiplier - the cleaning drum forms the basis.

In Lithuania, non-inertial reels are mostly used for spinning.

The main parameters of the reel for spinning

To understand which spinning reel will be the most suitable for you, you need to understand what parameters to pay attention to.

  • Weight
  • Size
  • Drum capacity
  • Number of bearings
  • Friction brake
  • Transmission number
  • What materials is the coil made of?

According to these parameters, you can understand in which fishing it is suitable for use (spinning, floating, bottom, etc.).

Spinning reel size

Before choosing a coil, you need to decide what size you will choose. The power of the coil and its other indicators depend on it. Special units of measurement are used to specify the size - in thousands.

1000-2500 for light spinning, UL (Ultra Light), small baits. If you are looking for a reel to choose for spinning with medium to large lures, you should be looking at size 2000-4000 reels.

The most optimal reel for spinning is size 3000.

Weight

The smaller the coil, the lower its weight. However, there are other parameters that affect the spinning weight of the reel. The coil can be made of different materials. For example, well-known manufacturers use durable and minimal weight materials - these are aluminum alloys, titanium, various polymers. So, the more expensive the coil, the lighter it is, if compared to the analog version from the cheaper class, because the more expensive coil uses light and at the same time durable materials.

Number of bearings

When deciding which coil to choose, it is worth paying attention to the number of bearings in it. It is an important feature responsible for the following functions:

  • Reduces potential wobble between elements (knob, drum, etc.)
  • Smooth and silent rotation
  • extends the service life of all friction elements and assemblies

However, a large number of bearings does not always mean that the reel is really high-quality. Sometimes it even worsens the coil. As a result, the leading manufacturers install only as many bearings as they really need to ensure smooth operation, when low-quality companies install them everywhere.

Friction brake

All modern spinning reels have a friction brake. Thanks to this mechanism, very large fish can be pulled to the shore, which by weight are much heavier than the permissible load of the fishing rod. There are two types of friction brakes:

  • Front. It is built into the front of the reel. It takes up less space, has good sensitivity, but it is quite inconvenient to adjust it when pulling fish.
  • Rear. It is mounted at the end of the reel. It has less sensitivity, making tools much heavier.

They are mostly used for spinning with a front friction brake. With a rear brake, they are used for feeder, bottom fishing, etc

Transmission number

This specification shows how much cleaning the spool will spin with one turn of the handle. According to this indicator, there are several types of coils:

  • High power - their gear ratio is 1: 4 - 4.7
  • universal - their values are 1: 5 - 5.5
  • high speed - 1: 6 - 7.2.

If you plan to catch large and heavy baits, you should choose power reels with a lower gear ratio. High speeds are mostly used in UL fishing.

Materials from which they are made

Spinning reels are made using different materials that have their own properties. For example, for inexpensive products, the manufacturer takes cheaper raw materials that are easier to process, but at the same time they are of lower quality. Such a coil can be bought for a small amount of money, but it is unlikely to last long.

By purchasing goods from quality manufacturers, you can be sure that only the best and most expensive materials are used, which will make the reel more reliable. Generally, well-known companies use titanium for the body, aluminum alloys for the drums, bronze alloys for the gears, as well as polymers, stainless steel and other materials. Due to this combination, the reel gains minimal weight, high strength and functionality.

Manufacturer's choice of spinning reels

The world's most famous and popular reel manufacturers are Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma, Favorite. They produce the highest quality coils. Their products are known for their durability, performance and good quality.

Less well known, but also producing quality products are Mitchell, Tica, DAM, Ryobi, Abu Garcia.
