Properly selected spinning for pike – a convenient and reliable tool for catching toothfish. Pike fishing requires knowledge and patience from the fisherman. And in order to have more patience, you need to choose the "correct" spinning rod for pike. The stem is the basis of the equipment. Let's try to figure out together how to choose the right spinning for pike.
Sometimes fishermen, especially beginners, make mistakes when looking for the right fishing rod. The Internet is full of recommendations and reviews, among which it is difficult to distinguish between advertising and useful advice. Spinning is a delicate tool. If you blindly trust the consultant in the store - you will lose money, because most likely they will advise you not on what you need, but on what needs to be sold.
What does spinning consist of?
Most fishing articles are a bunch of numbers, tests, grams with symbols. The hobby fisherman does not need these encyclopedic statistics looking for spinning – maybe just once for general enlightenment. In these tables, it is difficult to find out which test is necessary for pike fishing for a particular fisherman. Therefore, we will go the other way - we will choose spinning based on specific fishing conditions. An amateur fisherman often needs a versatile tool that can work with several types of bait.
Opinions are divided here - some believe that each tool should be narrowly focused on lures and characteristics, while others need one rod for everything. Both sides have the right to life - there is no point in arguing. The only correct note is that there is no absolutely universal spinning. In order to choose spinning for pike correctly, you need to know what to pay attention to. Let's try to find out what does spinning consist of?.
Spinning material
All spinning rods are now made of carbon fiber. The age of carbon fiber and graphite has arrived - fiberglass is obsolete. The rings of all rods, including budget ones, are usually made using SIC technology.
SiC rings - what are they? SiC – Silicon Carbide and Titanium Carbide are considered the best rod ring materials. These advanced ceramic rings keep friction and heat to a minimum. Less friction gives you longer casts.
Spinning length
Long spinning is more convenient to work from the shore when jigging. If you choose two shafts of the same test, you will feel the hook in your hand better with a longer shaft. But it is more convenient to work with short spinning from the shore or a boat if you catch with wobblers twitching.
Spinning length is a personal choice depending on how and where you fish. For twitching, 1.8-2.2 meter rods are suitable, and for jigging, 2.1-2.4 meters or longer if caught from the shore at long distances. Most choose the golden mean - from 2.1 m to 2.5 m.
Spinning handle
To cast a 30 gram lure over long distances, you'll need a powerful long two-handed handle. But for twitching and working with wobblers - light and at the same time powerful spinning with a short handle so that you can easily animate the game of the bait with the movement of the wrist.
Most often, long fishing rods are two-handed with a long handle. Short spinning rods, usually intended for twitching, have short handles so that it is convenient to pass and the spinning handle does not lean to the side while twitching.
Both two-handed and one-handed spinning handles can be solid or spaced. Cork or Eva material. I personally prefer the Eva material.
Spinning construction
Spinnings are usually two-part. In the past, "telescopes" were used - but that is already a thing of the past. Stronger monoblanks are also used for jerk or velke - but they are inconvenient to transport. If you need mobility and convenient transportation, a three- or four-part spinner, otherwise known as a travel spinner, will do.
Which spinning rods are suitable for pike
Most anglers use spinning rods from light to heavy, depending on the conditions.
- Light – up to 15 grams of test, caught with jigs, spinners and shakers or small wobblers. These spinning reels are best suited for fishing in small lakes, ponds and streams.
- Medium – 10-30 grams per test. You can fish with them both from the shore and from a boat. With the right baits, you can cast far and catch a big pike.
- Heavy - long rods of 2.7-3 meters - designed for fishing in large rivers with current, such as the Nemunas. The focus here is on a 30 gram jig so you can feel the cast in depth and current. Also, these rods are used for fishing in lakes with large rubber bands such as pig shad.
I'll give you some spins below. This is in no way a recommendation for purchase, but only a guide to which models and with which characteristics to choose a spinning rod for pike.

Made of high-quality carbon fiber, 5-15 gram casting spinning lines can be chosen in three lengths: 2.1m, 2.4m or 2.7m long. A rod of modern design, with a comfortable EVA handle, made of carbon fiber perfectly controls the fish and pleasantly transmits its blows to the hand of the fisherman.

Somehow the FL production does not inspire confidence, e.g. I bought a reel FL Black Tena, it says 8+1 bearings, but actually 4+1. I don't understand why they deceive people?
Hello,
You should delve into the reel's documentation and see where the manufacturer declares that it has added bearings. I cannot answer whether it is cheating or not. But let's look at the price of the coil from the other side - 30 EUR. If you look at the market, it is an excellent choice in terms of price/quality, especially for beginners who do not want to invest a large amount of money and want to try one or another fishing method.
As e.g. take everyone's favorite Okuma Ceymar CXT series 8+1 bearings, their price is 50+ Eur.
