Naktinė žvejyba

Night fishing is a rather complicated method of fishing. Night fishing is possible at any time of the year, but it is more popular in the summer. If you are a beginner, it is better to try your hand at night fishing in the summer, when you will quickly understand all the subtleties and later you will be able to apply many of these skills during the day. In general, night fishing is primarily a time for gathering around the fire and drinking tea (or something stronger). But in order not only to have a good time in such fishing, but also to return home with a catch, you need to know some tricks that will help you in night fishing.

Advantages of night fishing

  • You can take any place you like. Most of the fishermen and just vacationers have already left the campsites.
  • Big fish are less wary at night, so there is a chance to catch trophy specimens and fewer small baits.
  • You don't have to worry about the heat and other "pleasures" of day fishing. However, it should be noted that mosquitoes, on the contrary, become more active at night, so it is better to take care of mosquito sprays.
  • At night, there is usually no or very little wind, so it won't bother you.

Disadvantages of night fishing

  • poor visibility, so you should take a light source with you (preferably more than one);
  • if it gets cold, you should take a set of warm clothes with you.
  • Mosquitoes actively bite at night, you must take mosquito spray.
  • Night fishing will require more bait and lures.
  • You will need to prepare more carefully for fishing, because if you forget something, take everything fishing can walk on the dog's tail.

What you need to take for night fishing

When preparing for night fishing, you should make sure you have the following essential items:

  • Fishing equipment: Choose the right fishing rod and reel based on where you plan to fish and the type of fish you want to catch.
  • Flashlight: Nocturnal fishing requires good lighting. Have a proper flashlight that will give you enough light to help you see around you. Choose a flashlight with the appropriate wattage of LEDs and batteries with sufficient capacity.
  • Clothing and protective equipment: It is essential to wear suitable clothing to keep you warm and dry throughout your fishing session. Choose clothes that are suitable for the weather and keep you comfortable.
  • Food and drinks: Pack enough food and drink to keep your energy levels going through the night. Choose food that is easy to transport and does not require special storage conditions. Also take a bottle of water with you to avoid dehydration.
  • Fishing permit: Depending on your fishing location and region, a valid fishing license may be required. Check the lake's fishing requirements and make sure you have the proper fishing permit.
  • Additional tools and supplies: In the auxiliary fishing bag or box, put auxiliary tools that can be useful during night fishing. This can be a knife, gloves, spare fishing gear, a thermos with a hot drink, etc.

It is important to remember that night fishing may have its own specific requirements depending on location and local regulations. Be sure to check the location fishing rules, so that you are aware of all requirements and restrictions.

Choosing a night fishing spot

As already mentioned, it is quite dark near the reservoirs at night, so it is better to find comfortable places for fishing during the day. Usually, fish stay at night in places with a calm current, near the seed, closer to the shore. Choose a comfortable shore so that it causes you as little trouble as possible at night. Avoid steep and slippery banks. If it rains at night, they become very dangerous and you can get hurt.

On hot summer nights the fish come out in search of food so the baiting can be very good at this time but not consistent. That is why it is worth constantly actively feeding the fishing point.
